Job Description

Broadwind Heavy Fabrications is adding an Associate Quality Engineer to our team in Abilene, TX The Quality Engineer will be instrumental in upholding the integrity of our quality standards. This role is focused on driving root cause analyses, adjusting, and monitoring controlled documents and metrics, and assisting in the development and implementation of quality assurance processes. Reporting to the Sr. Quality Manager and working within the Quality Division, this role will play a pivotal role in ensuring continuous improvement and adherence to quality specifications and standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (May include some or all the following responsibilities)

  • Focus on three main initiatives: metric creation and analysis, procedure revision and crafting, and support of internal auditing.
  • Assist in document control activities and conduct internal audits.
  • Maintain and verify the effectiveness of non-conformance and corrective action metrics.
  • Collaborate with the project management team on customer KPI communications.
  • Establish, complete, and maintain control charts, FMEAs, and PPAP documentation as required.
  • Support internal and customer process/statistical control monitoring activities.
  • Assist in material traceability monitoring and tracking for customer schedule reporting.
  • Work cross-functionally to support successful outcomes of initiatives.
  • Undertake other projects and duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Academic/Experience/Credentials/Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or a related field.
  • Associate or Technical School in a related field may be considered in combination with experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (PPT, Word and Excel) software is preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with proof of insurance required.
  • Travel requirements - 10%

Specialized Skills/Knowledge/Ability

  • Basic understanding of quality systems and standards (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100).
  • Continuous Improvement and/or Six Sigma training is desired.
  • Experience with APQP and PPAP activities highly desired.
  • Familiarity of NDT at an intermediate level is desired
  • Highly motivated, self-starter capable of working and delivering results on own initiative.
  • Ability to present information in a clear and concise manner, both orally and in writing; comfortable presenting to a group, auditors or other external customers
