Job Summary:

This role is a critical leadership role responsible for managing and coordinating all body repairs, painting, structural work, welding, cabinet making, fabrication, upholstery, electrical harnesses assembly, disassembly, and parts installation operations. This position demands advanced technical skills, strong leadership abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering exceptional workmanship.

Key Responsibilities:

Vehicle Body Repair Leadership:
Manage the body shop team in performing complex bodywork and repair tasks on vehicles, including dent repairs, scratch removal, and major structural repairs.
Ensure that all repairs meet or exceed industry standards and manufacturer specifications. Painting and Refinishing Leadership:
Manage the preparation of surfaces for priming / painting by cleaning, guide coating, sanding, masking, and applying primers..
Manage paint and clear coat with precision, ensuring accurately and achieving appropriate finishes. Frame and Structural Repair Leadership:
Manage the diagnose and lead the repair of frame and structural damage using frame straightening equipment and advanced techniques.
Manage the alignment and structural integrity of repaired vehicles. Vehicle Manufacturing, Assembly and Disassembly Leadership:
Manage the assembly/disassembly team in performing complex tasks on a variety of vehicles, including classic cars, modern automobiles, and specialty vehicles.
Manage the team in conducting comprehensive disassembly, meticulously documenting the process and organizing parts for repair or restoration. Parts Replacement and Installation Leadership:
Manage the removal and replacement of damaged vehicle parts, such as panels, fenders, bumpers, and lights.
Ensure precise alignment and fitment of new parts and guide the team in this process. Rework Leadership: Manage rework to current defects found during Quality Control and other inspections

Parts Storage and Packing Leadership: Manage the disassembly, identify, tag, pack and store parts in a safe and secure manner to prevent damage or loss. Retrieve parts from storage and re use as needed
Sub-Assemblies Leadership:
Manage the assembly, and manufacturing of various components including upholstery, vacuum forming, wiring harnesses, switch panels, and various other components: Refurbishment and Upfit Leadership: Manage the diagnosis and repair ambulances, support vehicles and other GMR equipment. Manage all types of repairs and parts exchange including engines, transmissions and electrical. Manage ambulance manufacturing at all levels and in all areas. Manage opening and preparing estimates for refurbishment and repair. Manage assembly and disassembly of vehicles as needed Manage vehicle upfitting Fleet Resources: Manage the quality control, detail and yard coordination departments. Program ambulance control systems Research and identify parts and components Test and document results Lead new projects Quality Assurance and Leadership:
In conjunction with Quality Control Department Manage quality checks to ensure that all repairs, refinishing, assembly, and disassembly meet or exceed industry standards and client expectations.
Address any defects or issues promptly and effectively. Customer Service: Manage and provide superior customer service and feedback in a clear and concise manner.

Cross-Functional Collaboration and Communication:
Lead and closely collaborate with production teams, engineers, and cross-functional departments to address quality concerns and implement corrective actions.
Effectively communicate inspection findings and quality issues to relevant stakeholders.
Team Leadership and Mentorship:
Manage all manufacturing teams and activities, ensuring efficient task assignment, performance, and adherence to safety protocols.
Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to team members to enhance their skills and productivity Lead hiring, supervision and termination of staff.

Resource Management:
Manage the allocation of resources, including equipment, tools, and materials, to ensure efficient and effective operations. Work with all levels of leadership to plan for future needs and projects.

Budget Management:
Manage department budget process including monthly reviews, yearly budget development, capital requests. Maintain department within budget

Compliance and Safety:
Manage team and ensure adherence to safety protocols and quality standards.
Report correct and address any safety hazards or concerns to the appropriate personnel.

Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent required. Automotive Trade School or other related certifications and degrees preferred.

Seven (7) years of related experience

Valid Drivers License, Lean / Six Sigma Black Belt
