BBSI (Nasdaq) is experiencing a steady rate of growth and is looking for key employees to complement our existing teams. The Senior Benefits Manager role provides guidance and support to our business-owner clients and our internal team of experts and represents our master benefits program, BBSI Benefits. This person must demonstrate strong business acumen and possess an entrepreneurial spirit with a genuine desire to proactively and consistently deliver results for our clients and internal teams.


The Senior Manager, Client Benefits, leads a team of Employee Benefits Consultants who regularly work with BBSI branches, clients, and brokers to create a tailored benefits package that will meet the needs of our clients and their employees.


The Senior Manager, Client Benefits will oversee the sale and implementation of the benefits product with regular interaction with multi-million-dollar business units, senior leaders in Benefits Operations and executive leaders who are champions of the BBSI benefit product offering.


The ideal candidate will have a balance of proven consultative attributes coupled with the ability to lead a high-performing team of licensed benefits consultants throughout the country. The Senior Manager, Client Benefits will consult on a broad range of organizational issues, collaborate with senior leaders in Benefits Operations and Corporate Benefits, providing regular reporting to executive leaders and key stakeholders


The ideal candidate will be able to balance leadership of the consultant team, account management and the service element of the role with the responsibility to bring on new BBSI Benefits Clients and their employees (worksite employees).


The objective of the Senior Manager, Client Benefits, is to partner with benefit consultants, branches, internal underwriting, and the corporate operations team to:


  • Generate growth of the master benefits program (Health, Dental, Vision, Ancillary, etc.)
  • Design and recommend client companies' benefits offerings based on client objectives, providing clients with strategic guidance and decision-making support.
  • Educate client employees (worksite employees) on the value of their benefits and simplifying industry concepts during open enrollment meetings, maximizing employee engagement and plan participation.
  • Support field driven new business development, identifying opportunities and client/RP fit.
  • Perform as a subject matter expert in the area of employee benefits, providing strategic guidance, training, and support to:

Colleagues and peers - training and mentorship contributing to the professional growth of the team.

External clients and their employees (worksite employees).

Internal clients.

  • After the client and worksite employee experience with BBSI and the Benefits Program throughout the client's lifecycle by professionally and effectively managing client relationships to include:
  • Benefits onboarding - implementation of benefit plans, ensuring compliance.
  • Collaborate to reach out to clients proactively throughout the year, and work together to provide prompt and thorough resolution of escalated matters.
  • Benefits renewal, client retention.


REQUIREMENTS:

  • 10+ years hands-on employee benefits experience at a benefits brokerage or general agency that includes supervising high-level employees; Account Management and prior PEO experience a plus.
  • Thorough understanding of employee benefits principles and practices, including laws and regulations at the state and federal level, product and market-specific familiarity, industry trends, and underwriting concepts. This includes self-directed development and maintenance of knowledge.
  • Ability to develop and maintain deep knowledge of master plan contracts, carrier partnerships, competitors, plan limitations and exclusions, internal processes, underwriting requirements, and compliance considerations.
  • Proven track record leading high-performing benefits producers
  • Ability to understand audience and modify communication clearly in verbal and written formats with all levels and industry types to tailor complex concepts to the audience in a way that they can understand.
  • Excellent facilitation skills including conducting meetings for desired impact. Demonstrated ability to write, develop, and deliver successful presentations and facilitate trainings to individuals and groups at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with branch leaders, business unit team members, potential clients and referral partners, key product stakeholders and senior executives;
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a portfolio of accounts while maintaining strong client relationships to become a trusted advisor to business owners while building confidence in BBSI, our benefits program and the service team.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with a willingness to enthusiastically "roll up sleeves" and perform administrative work as needed.
  • Demonstrated ability leading a high-performing team to excellence including executing on action necessary to assure accountability and ownership of key objectives with an evolving product
  • Extensive Microsoft Office experience, especially Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; experience using CRM software.
  • Experience, confidence and poise with regular reporting to senior executives
  • Availability to travel up to 25% during peak periods, including possible overnight stays.
  • Current Life and Health Insurance Producer's License.

Salary and Other Compensation:


The starting salary range for this position is $110,000 - 125,000 annually. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography, skills, education, experience, certifications, and other qualifications of the candidate.


This position is also eligible for incentive pay in accordance with the terms of the Company's plan.

Paid Time Off: 40 hours of paid sick leave annually (additional sick/front loading/accrual, if any, based on state or regional requirements); vacation accrues up to 80 hours in the first year, up to 120 hours in years 2-4, and up to 160 hours in the fifth year; 6 paid holidays annually, 4 paid volunteer days annually.
