Position Description

Designs, implements and manages an assigned program. Typical duties can include but are not limited to: Identify funding opportunities, conduct program assessments, prepare program reports, oversee and manage program marketing and communications, manage program databases, supervise program staff, plan research activities, coordinate program events, participate in strategic planning, manage program files, establish program standards and objectives, direct logistical activities to promote the success of programs, develop and implement project timelines and ensures deadlines are met, oversee program budget, ensure goals and objectives of grants are met, assists in proposal writing, comply and analyze program statistics.

Major/Essential Functions

  • Develop, promote, execute, and evaluate a comprehensive group fitness program of 60+ classes per week.
  • Recruit, hire, supervise, and assess 50+ group fitness instructors, three student supervisors, and wellness peer leaders.
  • Teach group exercise classes as needed.
  • Implement risk management policies for the group fitness program, including upkeep and maintenance of Fitness Studios
  • Develop, organize, and promote new and ongoing group fitness and wellness events, programs, and services.
  • Prepare records, formulate statistical reports, analyze evaluations, and collect participant data.
  • Assist in preparation of Group Fitness and Wellness budget.
  • Complete equipment purchases, class prices, and instructor payroll.
  • Aid in development and implementation of student learning for Group Exercise instructors.
  • Assist with campus and community wellness programs.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and four years of experience developing or managing programs or projects. Additional job related experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of progressive professional experience in the fitness industry, preferably in Collegiate level University Recreation.
  • Master's degree in related field.
  • Hold two or more specialty group fitness certifications: ZUMBA, SPIN, Barre, TRX, Yoga, or other qualified certifications.
  • Experience and understanding of Collegiate University Recreation programs.
  • Experience with public speaking in the realms of fitness and University Recreation.
  • Background fitness assessments.
  • Ability to cultivate campus-wide fitness and wellness initiatives.
  • Passion for implementing initiatives that create growth within the department and resourcefulness in planning short and long-range improvements.
