In 1974, pile driving capability was added and our primary market expanded to include construction related to the oil and gas refining industry and the petrochemical processing industry. Asphalt manufacturing and paving capabilities were added in 1985 with service primarily to the Texas Department of Transportation. Expansion continued in 1989 with the addition of marine piling and dock construction capabilities.

We are looking for a Safety Operations Manager who will be responsible for the management and direction of field safety department employees, the planning and assists in oversight of training for all employees in the areas of safety and the monitoring of all company operations to help ensure complete compliance with government regulations and company policy.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Supervision - assists the Director of Safety with the supervision of the activity and development of all safety division personnel including selection, training, evaluation, and discipline.
  • Division Management - Oversees all division personnel to ensure proper planning, staffing, scheduling and problem solving.
  • Marketing/Customer Relations - be mindful of and strive to maintain and improve customer relations and company reputation when dealing with clients without compromising the safe completion of our work and/or company policy.
  • Equipment - maintain accurate records of and continually monitor equipment operator and signal persons/flagmen certification to ensure compliance with governmental regulations, client requirements and Company policy.
  • Safety/Risk Management - assist in monitoring compliance with all Company safety policies and procedures. Assist in the timely and thorough investigation, handling and documentation of any and all incidents. Assist in ensuring that lessons learned are communicated and incorporated into Company policy and procedures as appropriate. Assist with the proactive management of injuries to minimize financial and recordability impact without compromising injured employee's wellbeing. Assist with enforcement of the Company's non-harassment policies. Assist with proper review of safety-related requirements of bid and contract documents to protect Company interests and ensure Company compliance.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A good work ethic, honesty and integrity are absolute requirements.
  • Four year degree is preferred and at least 4 years of experience in safety inspection and/or training is required - or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Background in Petro-Chemical, Power, and Industrial Construction is required.
  • Extensive knowledge of governmental regulations for safety as well as safety processes and procedures is required, especially Petro-chemical plant requirements and regulations.
  • A minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience including staffing, employee development and managing the performance of individuals and teams is preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly both verbally and in writing, and interact effectively with a diverse audience.
  • Strong organizational and problem solving skills with the ability to make effective and timely decisions.
  • Advanced PC skills with experience in MS office products such as Word, Excel and Outlook is required.
