JOB SUMMARY

This position reports to the Leases and Contracts Manager. The Lead Leases and Contracts Analyst reviews, analyzes, verifies and sets up oil and gas leases and contracts into P2 Land as it relates to land and mineral ownership and contractual rights.


Job requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Approve ownership changes processed in P2.
  • Review, approve and run payment process for rentals, shut-ins and minimum royalties as they become due.
  • Prepare, review, and distribute monthly and semi-annual reports, including but not limited to, end of month accounting, escheated funds, and prospect acreage reports.
  • Mentor and train less experienced team members.
  • Query and analyze data related to acquisitions and divestitures, title issues and special requests made by our business units and other departments, both internal and external.
  • Work with the Business Units on the research and preparation of instruments, such as divestiture Exhibits and Release of Oil and Gas Lease.
  • Analyze, set up, maintain and tract complex leases, contracts and company owned lands in P2 Land.
  • Review and update the property status of leases and contracts due to well completions, shut-ins, well plugging or other well status changes.
  • Advanced proficiency in complex calculations of working interests, net revenue, royalty, overriding royalty and related interests.
  • Effectively and cooperatively interfaces with other departments within the company, including but not limited to, the Business Units and Accounting.
  • Collaborate with Division Order Analysts to ensure that lease records and division order records reflect most updated title data.
  • Other duties as required.


SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Extensive experience with a land management software system, preferably Tobin Land System or P2 Land.
  • Highly knowledgeable with regards to complex lease and title issues, preferably in the Permian Basin, Anadarko Basin, Marcellus Shale and State and Federal Agencies.
  • Expert proficiency with Microsoft Office required, with emphasis on Excel, Word and Dynamics.
  • Must be goal oriented, approaching projects with a sense of urgency and drive.
  • Must be a team player who possesses the ability to adapt to new technologies, workflows and processes.
  • Ability to adapt and work within various peripheral and analytical software applications, such as Spotfire, Hyland OnBase and Microsoft Dynamics.


EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • 4-year college degree required, preferably in legal studies, finance, accounting, or business;
  • CPLTA, not required but preferred.


YEARS OF EXPERIENCE

10 plus years of experience in the oil and gas industry working as a Lease Analyst.


WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Work is typically performed indoors in an office environment. Incumbents must be able to perform work which includes typing, sitting, and standing. In the event that incumbent visits operations worksite, personal protection equipment, including head protection, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety shoes, and flame-resistant clothing is required. Safety rules including OSHA and DOT requirements are strictly enforced. Employees must be willing to travel and work extended hours on short notice.


TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Percent of Travel Required: Less than 10-15%; Travel may be required for mandatory meetings or training.
