This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Facilities, and Security. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

As part of a small, passionate, and accomplished team of security experts, the Security Specialist will be pivotal in supporting and directing security measures in the goal of protecting our people, property and information. This position will directly impact our ability to ensure security is perceived as a critical process within the company. The position will also provide security expertise, guidance and advice to management and staff. The Security Specialist must have security-related experience in support of Corporate environments and possess a drive for working alone or in groups equally. The position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.

Van Horn Specific information

Being at the heart of Blue Origin operations, the West Texas Site in Van Horn, TX offers eligible employee's additional attractive financial incentives to supplement their competitive base earnings, including a living allowance and relocation assistance. Eligibility for these additional benefits is based on the employee's ability to permanently relocate to Van Horn, TX, or travel to Van Horn from another Blue location a minimum of 50% of the time.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Understanding, contributing to, and implementing Blue Origin's Physical Security standards
  • Support Physical Security Manager in working Threat Management program management
  • Support Physical Security Manager in developing, managing, maintaining, and completing security plans before, during and after flight operations
  • Conduct Security Risk Assessments as needed.
  • Develop subject matter expertise in security technology integration - CCTV, Access Control, alarms all other associated security technology - design and management.
  • Support Physical Security Manager in management of external security vendors
  • Support Physical Security Manager guard force operation management.
  • Help to develop and maintain a local Employee Security Awareness Program
  • Support the enterprise Insider Threat Program
  • Support Physical Security Manager with role in Executive/VIP Protection
  • Support Physical Security Manager with Critical Incident Management and situational threat event analyses.
  • Develop relationship as the Blue Origin backup liaison officer with Federal, State, Local, and Tribal law enforcement authorities.
  • Develop relationship as the Blue Origin backup liaison officer with Private Security and Protective Service vendors.
  • Support all Blue Origin Security functions at Launch Site One as directed by the Physical Security Manager
  • Support Blue Origin operations outside of traditional security roles at Launch Site One as directed by the Physical Security Manager

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Federal Law Enforcement and Corporate Security experience.
  • Managerial and investigative experience in Criminal and National Security matters.
  • Functional experience in Physical Security - guard force operations, security technology (access control/CCTV/alarms).
  • Functional experience in Threat Management - critical incident management, command post operations and technology, and threat assessments.
  • Functional experience in Investigations - criminal (fraud, theft, etc.) and administrative (employee misconduct).
  • Ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Other qualifications that are desire, but not required:
  • Associates Degree
  • Current ASIS - Certified Protection Professional (CPP) in security management.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, administration or related field.
  • Foreign language proficiency, Spanish preferred.
