This position provides life/work balance with a 40-hour, typical work week. Evening, weekend, and holiday hours may be required as needed. On-campus work is required. Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer without sponsorship.

Purpose

As part of the LAITS Classroom Support Team, this position will support, maintain, and troubleshoot the multimedia technology in General Purpose Classrooms and departmental spaces across campus.

Responsibilities
  • Perform highly-skilled and technical work involving the installation, operation, maintenance and support of audio/visual and AV control system equipment.

  • Provide technical assistance in the planning, construction, repair, and renovation of classroom technology systems. Provide technical support for the operations of the Liberal Arts Classroom Help Desk.

  • Identify and repair faults and failures within complex audio/visual systems.

  • Assist faculty and other classroom users with the operation of multimedia and computer systems.

  • Assist in training and supervising a team of student employees responsible for providing specialized, technical support.

  • Provide on-call telephone and technical support to classroom users sometimes outside of normal business hours.

  • Assist with management of inventory in Liberal Arts technology classrooms.

  • Other related functions as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Skills comparable to two years of experience in the skilled construction and maintenance of audio/visual equipment.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications
  • High school graduation or GED.

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • More than four years of experience in the skilled maintenance and repair of multimedia equipment.

  • Professional experience in a university setting.

  • Demonstrated ability to work well both independently and as part of a team or crew.

  • Professional experience in customer service or support roles.

  • Experience maintaining Crestron-controlled AV systems and AVoIP technology.

  • Experience supervising student employees.

  • Experience with video-conferencing, distance learning, and lecture capture solutions.

Driving Required

This job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. Employees who are required to have a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing (pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, random, return-to-duty, and follow-up drug and alcohol testing).

Salary Range

$41,000+ depending on qualifications.
