ROLE

As the Senior Region HR Manager in an office supporting over 4,500 employees across the East Coast and Mid-Atlantic, you'll lead a team of Regional HR Professionals and provide counsel to leaders on complex employee matters. Through a consultative and servant-leader based approach, you will solve problems, influence resolutions and mitigate risk. As part of the leadership team, you'll play a role in the strategic planning, leadership development and execution of initiatives that impact Waste Connections.

  • Deep experience leading and mentoring a team of HR professionals.
  • Strong influencing skills with proven success in guiding and mentoring employees at all levels of the organization through collaboration and communication.
  • Skilled in interpersonal and organizational consulting, delivery and facilitation.
  • Ability to remain professional in high stress situations.
  • Sound judgment, decision making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Project management skills and the ability to manage multiple matters and projects.
  • Deep comprehension of and hand's-on experience with employment issues in the Northeast U.S., especially in Massachusetts and New York.
  • Experienced in M&A integration.
  • 15+years progressively responsible Human Resources experience, particularly as it relates to employee relations.
  • Required Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Management or related field.
  • Advanced knowledge of U.S. employment laws.
  • Ability to travel up to 40% often without advance notice.
  • Exercise discretion with confidential with sensitive information.
  • PHR/SPHR (SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP) preferred.
  • Union experience a plus, but not required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as a strategic partner to the region leadership in decisions impacting their most valuable resource - people.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a Regional HR team.
  • Understand business strategy, financial drivers, and align HR plans to meet company goals.
  • Participate in projects and planning that support employee development and success.
  • Collaborate with Region leadership, field managers, and corporate HR to help resolve human capital issues that arise throughout the employment life cycle.
  • Focus on training front-line leaders on fundamental HR skills to reduce risk to the Company.
  • Assist field leadership with integrating newly acquired companies/employees.
  • Analyze data to help drive results (such as turnover data, internal/external market data) and make recommendations to management based upon findings and best practices.
  • Conduct or lead fact-finding investigations and advise leaders on appropriate outcomes and actions.
  • Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding policies, procedures, programs and other people matters.
  • Embrace a Servant Leadership mindset.
