As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will lead and manage a group of Test Engineers, Engine and Maintenance Technicians for various spaceflight systems. You will share in the team's impact on all aspects of Engine Testing. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.

Management Responsibilities:

  • Manage personnel at Engine Testing Facilities to include recruiting, training, coaching, mentoring, developing, and retaining talent by following and developing performance management processes.

  • Promote teamwork, employee engagement, and good employee morale.

  • Be an exemplar of Blue Leadership Principles, focusing on demonstrating operational excellence.

  • Maintain employee training and development records.

  • Demonstrate high standards in test operations and work cooperatively with a diverse team of Integration Technicians, Responsible Engineers, Test and Flight Operations and Test and Launch Operations counterparts, Quality Specialists, and other stakeholders to ensure requirements are met.

  • Assist in the preparation of Program Monthly Review, Monthly Activity Report, Weekly Status, and Daily Progress Checks to help communicate inwards and outwards across the organization.

  • Determine strategic targets for GEEx, prepare strategic plans to ensure the targets are met, and leverage team skills and capabilities to implement and track progress against the plans.

  • Assist in capital, overhead, and labor budget planning and execution.

Engineering Responsibilities:

  • Design, plan, fabricate, install and operate rocket engine test facilities.

  • Design, define, procure and install system components and materials; manage vendors and subcontractors.

  • Develop and execute test plans and procedures; perform subsequent data reduction and reviews.

  • Lead daily test operations, operate test consoles, direct technician work and coordinate with internal customers

  • Understand and troubleshoot fluid and instrumentation systems.

  • Perform root cause analysis and failure investigations; lead implementation of corrective actions or continuous improvement projects

  • Perform system hazard analyses.

  • Plan and oversee facility maintenance.

  • Perform schedule and cost estimation and management.

  • Identify opportunities for safety improvements and cost savings.

  • Comply with and improve processes for test stand configuration management.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS degree in engineering and significant direct experience with testing or similar technical hands-on experience.

  • Experience in an operations environment in large industry or aerospace facilities.

  • Strong ability and desire to understand complex systems, investigate and solve challenging problems, and work in a dynamic environment.

  • Ability to work well under pressure and demonstrate initiative and follow through to improve existing systems, processes, and documentation.

  • Demonstrated technical expertise in high pressure gas, cryogenic fluid system design, or propulsion systems.

  • Understands hazardous operations and design for system safety

  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and strengthen our culture of inclusion

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Schedule: 5/2 rotation is preferred. If 9/5 - Manager is required to be available on-call / phone 7 days a week to support team issues, test operation conversations

  • Demonstrated technical expertise in test stand design, operations, and maintenance, and some or all of the following:

  • Pressurized gas systems

  • Cryogenics

  • Propulsion systems

  • Mechanical or electrical systems

  • Data acquisition systems or instrumentation and controls

  • Data or configuration management

  • Total quality management systems

  • Civil engineering or construction project management

  • Project management and familiarity with Primavera P6 or MS Project
