The McKesson Cell, Gene, and Advanced Therapies business is at the forefront of healthcare innovation, specializing in the development of services which support groundbreaking therapies that are revolutionizing patient care. We seek a driven and results-oriented Director of Product Innovation to join our team.

This is an individual contributor role in which you will be responsible for the execution of our product strategy, development, and ongoing oversight of our growing portfolio of solutions and services.

Key Responsibilities:

Execution of Product Strategy and Vision:

  • Own, lead and drive the product roadmap for Core Distribution; ensure alignment with business objectives, customer needs, market trends, and long-term strategy of Cell and Gene business
  • Conduct market and customer research to identify opportunities, validate product ideas, and uncover unmet needs
  • Stay current on industry trends, researching emerging services and technologies, market shifts, and evolutions in the competitive landscape
  • Communicate product roadmap clearly and concisely within the Cell and Gene team and relevant stakeholders across the broader McKesson enterprise
  • Work closely with key stakeholders at 3PL, SD , Biologics, Hub on technology enablement tools that support differentiation in core business.

Product Development and Management:

  • Define product requirements, features, and user stories; craft clear, concise, and user-centric documentation for development teams, including acceptance criteria
  • Manage product backlog, including ongoing feature prioritization, estimation, refinement, and alignment with overarching product roadmap
  • Develop demo environment to assist in commercialization efforts.
  • Lead project management by partnering with cross-functional teams across the McKesson enterprise; collaborate with engineering, design, marketing, and sales for go-to-market planning, launch, and post-launch support.
  • Generate competitive intelligence where required and support the pricing team with data and recommendations, as needed.

Product Performance and Analysis:

  • Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs); define success metrics aligned with business goals, monitor and communicate progress through executive-level dashboards, and identify areas for continuous improvement
  • Analyze product / service utilization data and customer feedback; utilize data analysis tools and customer research methodologies to identify improvement opportunities and iterate on the overarching roadmap
  • Drive product / service adoption and customer engagement; develop strategies to onboard new users, increase usage, and measure customer satisfaction
  • Stays updated on industry news, market research reports, and partner / competitor activities. Develops robust, actionable insights to inform strategies, priorities, and key decisions.

Communication and Stakeholder Management:

  • Champion a culture of customer-centric product development; infuse user needs and feedback throughout the lifecycle, advocate for user testing, and involve users in development
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organization; communicate product vision, progress, challenges, and value proposition; gain buy-in, secure resources, and navigate cross-functional dependencies

Minimum Requirement:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Industrial Design / Engineering or related field; MBA, MS, or other advanced degree preferred

Critical Skills:

  • 10+ years of experience in product management
  • 10+ years of experience within healthcare and the life sciences, particularly in areas related to Cell and Gene therapies or similar domains
  • Able to travel both domestic and international as needed (25%)

Specialized Knowledge/Skills:

  • Strong experience in cell and gene therapy
  • Understanding Biopharma Services and importance to customers and associated stakeholders
  • Forward-thinking entrepreneurial mindset, capable of identifying opportunities, taking initiative, and driving innovative solutions within a dynamic team environment
  • Exceptional negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
  • Thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, adept at managing multiple priorities and initiatives
  • Strong project management skills, leading cross-functional teams and initiatives to successful completion
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and strong understanding of data analytics and user research methods

As part of Total Rewards, we are proud to offer a competitive compensation package at McKesson. This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. In addition to base pay, other compensation, such as an annual bonus or long-term incentive opportunities may be offered.

Our Base Pay Range for this position

$114,700 - $191,100
