The Neurology Division of Statistical Analysis and Planning team partners with the UT Southwestern Clinical Informatics Center, which is a dynamic interdisciplinary community of physicians, scientists, students, researchers, and developers whose goal is to leverage the knowledge from research and experience in biomedical informatics, data sciences, social sciences, clinical sciences and other domains for the generation of knowledge and informatics-based products or services to improve quality and safety, the efficiency of patient care, and the health of people in general. We are looking for a motivated Data Scientist to join our interdisciplinary team for an exciting opportunity in developing natural language processing and machine learning tools to leverage electronic health record data to support clinical care and research in the neurosciences.
A multi-year Data Scientist position is available in the Department of Neurology and the Clinical Informatics Center at UT Southwestern Medical Center. Working under general direction of the Principal Investigator, this position provides analysis and develops and evaluates natural language processing and machine learning algorithms and software for clinical informatics problems. The Data Scientist impacts data acquisition, management, and analysis in basic, translational, and clinical research, including clinical trials.
Experience and EducationM.S. in Computer Science, Informatics, Bioinformatics, (Bio)mathematics, (Bio)statistics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related field OR B.S. with demonstrated experience in broadly defined areas of informatics or bioinformatics. Two (2) - four (4) years post-graduation experience in data analysis, natural language processing, and/or scientific software development.
