Overview

Trustmark's Internal Audit department assists the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors and Senior Leadership with their oversight and management responsibilities through the performance of independent and objective assurance, advisory and consulting services. Internal Audit's work builds confidence that Trustmark will meet its obligations to all stakeholders including customers, shareholders, and employees. The Senior Audit Manager for Customer Facing Audit will oversee a team of internal audit professionals in conducting audit activities for Trustmark Bank's retail and institutional operations. Reporting to the Director Customer Facing Audit, the Senior Audit Manager is a key leader with two areas of focus; first, the position is responsible for executing the annual audit plan for assigned coverage areas and promote risk culture and awareness in the Bank through positive and collaborative relationships with executives, business leaders, and colleagues. Second is to drive continuous improvement within Internal Audit, focused on establishing and maintaining internal auditing standards governing all audit activities that conform to internal and professional standards

Responsibilities
    Responsibility for assisting with development of a risk based multi-year audit plan, performing risk assessments, and overseeing the execution of audits for retail and institutional banking businesses.
  • Collaborate with members of the Internal Audit leadership team to determine audit coverage and integrated audit approach for designated businesses.
  • Collaborate with other corporate risk and control functions to ensure activities are coordinated and where possible, leveraged.
  • Provide control advisory services on Company's various projects.
  • Provide strategic guidance and expertise on the execution of the audit by applying knowledge of (company/industry/Risk and Control) best practices and processes to ensure proper strategic alignment.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain an IA approach to ensure Heightened Standards Risk Governance framework requirements are met across the three lines of defense.
  • Evaluate and streamline quarterly and annual audit processes and improve departmental and company costs.
  • Work with efficiency and effectiveness, maintaining Internal Audit methodology and standards, in the planning, execution and reporting of deliverables.
  • Coordinate and manage regulatory requests and examinations with bank regulators and external auditor.
  • Will be accountable for meeting deliverable deadlines, adhering to department and professional standards and utilizing consistent methodology.
  • Manage and foster business relationships with Senior Management.
  • Research industry trends and emerging risks and provide change recommendations.
  • Assist in the recruiting and mentoring, leading, developing, and evaluating personnel.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree Finance, Accounting, Risk Management, or related field required
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in financial services audit with a focus on bank operations supporting product delivery including credit delivery
  • Minimum of one of the following:
    • CPA - Certified Public Accountant
    • CIA - Certified Internal Auditor
  • Prior In-depth experience and knowledge in large banking organizations and experience risk management, including compliance, lending, operations and applicable banking laws/regulations/guidance, risk frameworks, and governance
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to develop and maintain relationships with key internal and external shareholders
  • Experience in managing teams and developing junior talent
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Possess a strong business acumen and judgement plus the ability to communicate key issues to all levels
  • Self-motivated and self-directed with a 'hands-on' leadership style to lead change
  • Creative thinking who can map out creative solutions and lead their implementation
  • Collaborative and takes ownership to ensure the quality of Internal Audit's product and success
  • Experience leading integrated business audits with technology auditors
  • Demonstrate experience in audit-related fields, including a working knowledge of appropriate risk management techniques as well as a strong understanding of audit processes and internal controls
  • Ability to analyze risk trends at a macro level, identifying signs of changing risk levels and/or symptoms of process control breakdowns
  • Superior oral and written communication skills
  • Comfortable making presentations to executives, groups of professionals, and external stakeholders
  • The ability to influence and effectively challenge
