Texas Robotics Details:

The University of Texas at Austin is seeking an organized and driven Academic Program Coordinator for Texas Robotics. Texas Robotics as an interdisciplinary consortium of 16 core robotics faculty from the Departments of Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, and Aerospace Engineering & Engineering Mechanics. Our research scope is broad, ranging across many different areas such as surgical robotics, personal assistance robotics, automated driving, long-term autonomy, and nuclear robotics. Texas Robotics just launched its first undergraduate program, a Minor in Robotics, in Fall 2023 and is continuing to build out its undergraduate program and robotics community. Texas Robotics also houses an interdisciplinary graduate student portfolio program and plans to expand its educational offerings in tandem with faculty and student growth.

Purpose

Coordinates the academic functions of the undergraduate and graduate programs in Texas Robotics by implementing, managing, and updating procedures and processes.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate all aspects of the graduate portfolio program including admissions, graduate portfolio seminar, registrar communications, and updating course curriculum in conjunction with the faculty
  • Serve as a secondary advisor and main point of contact for robotics students. Connect students with research, graduate school, and industry opportunities. Manage current and prospective student inquiries regarding robotics courses and programs. Develop and maintain a tracking system to assess and evaluate student retention, grade point averages, and academic outcomes, including post-graduation plans
  • Work closely with the Texas Robotics Managing Director and Texas Robotics Faculty to continue the development of the undergraduate robotics program including the minor admissions, overseeing the seat management system, and enrollment for all Robotics (RBT) courses
  • Responsible for coordinating and enacting curriculum and catalog changes with the director and relevant faculty. Communicate all Robotics curriculum changes to staff, advisors, and faculty in robotics and each of the 4 affiliated departments (ASE, CS, ECE, & ME). Ensure that course offerings meet corresponding demand and allow students to fulfill degree requirements in an efficient manner
  • Be familiar with and communicate institution, college, and department-level policies and procedures in an empathic and respectful manner
  • Manage communications with students through our listservs, Canvas, organize a student resume book each semester, and communicate larger marketing needs and timelines with the communications and marketing coordinator. Serve as a liaison between Texas Robotics, Texas Robotics Alumni, and robotics organizations and coordinate funding/benefits (including but not limited to ECLAIR , RAS, TAR, and TRGS)
  • Help with event operations on the day of large events and robotics tours
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree. Five years of experience working with students in an administrative or advising capacity. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to think strategically and creatively and work independently as well as on a team. Be flexible and adaptable as Texas Robotics is a growing organization. Exceptional customer service and written communication skills. Strong accuracy and attention to detail. Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, Outlook/Google mail, and calendars.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's Degree in Higher Education/Student Affairs, Counseling, Education, or a related field. At least three years of experience coordinating academic programs and advising students. Experience with UT-Austin information systems (e.g., Advisor's Toolkit, UT Box, Mainframe, Qualtrics, Zoom).

Salary Range

$65,000 + depending on qualifications
