*Monday- Friday 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Overtime and Weekend based on need. Must be willing to travel to both buildings in Irving.

Safety Coordinator

Responsibilities

  • Primary focus is to uphold OSHA and Company safety standards.
  • Safety Champion
  • Facilitate weekly safety meetings and safety stand-downs
  • Assist with training programs (New Hire training, Forklift training, LOTO training, EPREP training).
  • Provide sub-contractors with safety protocols while on-site
  • Assist with weekly safety inspections.
  • Assist with initial incident investigations (including preparing all incident forms and gathering information to submit to Safety Director)
  • Weekly spot checks (inspect racking, fire extinguishers, fire exit doors, lift equipment, wheel chalks, and new project areas).
  • Attend DC morning Staff meetings.
  • Address any safety concerns.
  • Other duties to be assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D, Required.
  • Two years safety experience, Preferred
  • Forklift, Required
  • Flexibility to float to multiple facilities within the region, Required
  • Flexibility to work extended hours and weekends when needed, Required
  • Experience with MS Office Suite and auditor safety software
  • Prior training experience, Preferred
  • Understanding of federal, state and city safety requirements, including OSHA, preferred
  • License/Certification: OSHA 10, Preferred

Personal Characteristics

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and presentation.
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, & Outlook skills
  • Teamwork oriented
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced high-speed environment.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment.
  • Self-motivation, taking initiative to make improvements.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
  • Interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish effective professional relationships with employees and project managers.

Working Conditions, Mental and Physical Demands

  • Ability to walk or stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance
  • Ability to climb stairs without assistance
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel and grasp products
  • Must NOT be afraid of heights
  • Must be able to work on a variety of warehouse floors up to 100 feet in height
