Summary:

Under the guidance of the Director/Manager, accountable for the following; develops schedules for the unit within budgeted statistics; updates associate files, skills check lists and competencies; In conjunction with Education department develop skills lab and related competencies; develops documentation to support program; Oversees mentoring of new staff. Provides input on evaluations. The Coord Surgical Techs manages day to day issues, working with staff, patients, and doctors. Ensures patient care assignments are safe. Identifies complex clinical issues and develops staff to provide excellent clinical care. Provide direct patient care as directed by the manager. Take call for the unit as assigned. Participated with Director/Manager in interviews for open staff positions. Assist in preparation for Joint Commission, CARF and other regulatory body surveys. Assist in or directs policy on the unit utilizing evidence based practice. Participates in unit council and Program Performance Improvement initiatives. Attends relevant meetings and communicates information to program members, implements new departmental policies and procedures. Other duties as assigned.

CHRISTUS Surgical Hospital's Operating Room (OR) is a vital part of our patient care team. Our facility has 33 beds, 11 Operating Rooms, 2 Endoscopy Procedure rooms, and 3 Isolation Rooms. We provide exceptional surgical services to a diverse patient population. Our primary surgical procedure is orthopedics surgery with a particular focus on hip and knee replacement surgery using the exclusive and less invasive MAKOplasty procedure.

In addition to orthopedics surgery, we also perform general surgery, ENT, eye, podiatry, dental, plastics, bariatrics and GYN procedures. We are committed to providing the best surgical care to our patients by focusing on their needs and maintaining a safe and comfortable environment. Our skilled surgeons and staff deliver excellent and compassionate care, resulting in superior patient outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Completion of an approved O.R.T. program
  • Minimum of two years' experience as a surgical technologist in a hospital or surgery center setting. Lead tech experience preferred.
  • CPR (American Heart Association)
