Description
Job Summary

The HSE Authorized User maintains knowledge of and ensures compliance with all organizational policies and governmental regulations regarding radioactive materials and radiation emitting devices; verifies that radioactive materials are properly stored and used; and operates a company vehicle to transport radiation sources to field locations or storage facility.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain knowledge of and ensure compliance with all organizational policies and governmental regulations regarding radioactive materials and radiation emitting devices
  • Verify that radioactive materials are properly stored and used
  • Maintain all radioactive material and radiation emitting device safe use documentation
  • Attend all required radiation safety procedures and techniques training
  • Assist the Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) with daily Radiation Protection Program tasks
  • Retrieve or deliver radiation sources to and from field locations and storage facilities
  • Maintain compliance with radiation materials and radioactive emitting device regulations when performing radiation surveys, inventory, and inspections
  • Mount and remove radiation sources on equipment as needed
  • Perform routine maintenance of radiation sources
  • Complete all required radiation source reports
  • Safely drive a company vehicle day or night, on various road types, and in all weather conditions
  • Maintain compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies by attending all required HSE training sessions, safety meetings, and always utilize proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Willing to attend and pass a state approved radiation safety procedures and techniques training class, required
  • Maintain a current, valid driver's license and a clean driving record, required
  • English speaker required (English-Spanish bilingual preferred)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to effectively communicate with personnel at all levels of the organization
  • Must have knowledge of safe hand tool use
  • Strong detail orientation, organizational, time management skills, able to prioritize workload and keep detailed records
  • Must be driven, self-motivated, and possess a strong work ethic
  • Proficient working in Microsoft Office 365 applications and able to quickly learn other work-related software
  • Able to safely perform duties and operate a vehicle during a 12+ hour work shift that will include days, nights, weekends, or holidays
  • Able to safely operate a vehicle day or night, on various terrains or road conditions, and in all weather conditions
  • Must be physically able to bend, stoop, kneel, twist, crawl, walk on uneven surfaces, stand, sit, lie down, and climb equipment ladders or stairs throughout the work shift
  • Must be physically able to work indoors and outdoors with possible exposure to extreme hot or cold temperatures
  • Can safely lift or move up to 50 lbs. without assistance
