Overview

TRC is seeking an Environmental Technician in our Air Measurements Division of our Houston, TX office to assist in the completion of air emissions testing projects at various industrial facilities.

The Houston Air Measurement Group provides air emission testing services to a wide range of clients - power plants, refineries, chemical plants, pulp and paper plants, manufacturing facilities, solid waste combustors, etc. We are looking to fill a position as an air sampling scientist to serve as a member of a test team that travels to the client-s facility and conducts emission measurements.

The air sampling scientist will become proficient in various EPA sampling methods and develop knowledge about many types of industrial processes. The experienced air sampling scientist typically advances into either a client-oriented career path of project management and business development or into a technical oriented career path working with the latest monitoring and analytical equipment.


Responsibilities

  • The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Project Managers and Field Team Leaders.
  • Sample collection at facility emissions points that may include tall stacks and exposure to environmental elements including heat, cold, humidity, snow, rain, wind, sun, and noise.
  • Support equipment repair, calibration, and maintenance
  • Data analysis and interpretation; coordination of field work and equipment logistics; and DOT regulated driving.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED is required
  • Candidates are required to successfully pass a drug test prior to employment or within five working days from date of hire in addition to a pre-employment background check, physical and motor vehicle records check
  • The position requires significant field work and associated travel (up to 70%). May require some weekend work and extended travel. A valid driver's license and good driving record are required.
  • Candidates must be able to lift and carry a 50-pound load, climb ladders, and be comfortable working at heights
  • Office responsibilities may include inputting data into Excel- spreadsheets, equipment repair, calibration, and maintenance. The position requires working in a team setting, completing responsibilities, strong oral communication skills, and moderate computer skills.
