The Opportunity

Reporting to the Senior Category Manager, Engineering, Construction and Maintenance, and working closely with Category Leads, the Sr Category Analyst will support the engineering, construction and maintenance categories across all North American business units.

The Senior Category Analyst will support the development of value generating strategies, participate in supplier performance evaluations and reviews, analyze and validate market intelligence, and execute sourcing and contracting activities across the entire contract lifecycle.

What you'll do

  • Work with the business, supply chain stakeholders and category leads to ensure thorough understanding of the business objectives and drivers

  • Support the development and execution of category strategies, providing support and expertise through all steps of the category management process

  • Be a commercial expert for construction services (internal spend and demand, external market)

  • Support management of key supplier relationships, establish and execute supplier relationship management plans (manage supplier scorecards and facilitate regular supplier feedback discussions, highlighting potential quality trends)

  • Provide category analysis as required

  • Support sourcing and contracting activities across the entire contract lifecycle while ensuring all policies, processes and procedures are adhered to

  • Generate and provide sourcing recommendations based on detailed analyses, business needs and market intelligence

  • Participate in contractual and commercial negotiations

  • Maintain contract records ensuring Governance requirements are met

  • Develop, issue and manage RFx documents

  • Contract Management (amendments, change orders, approval documents, etc)

  • Provide reporting on delivery of savings and value objectives against agreed category management and strategic sourcing plans.

Minimum qualifications

  • University degree with minimum4-8 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered

  • Experience with energy project construction contracts

  • Strong planning, project management and organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task under high pressure situations with competing priorities and a sense of urgency

  • Strong commercial acumen with a strong background in contracting activities

  • Experience with relevant systems and tools, such as SAP and Ariba.

Preferred qualifications

  • Ability to handle competing priorities on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy, strong organization, time management and planning skills

  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills

  • Category strategy development experience

  • Supplier and category management experience

  • Relevant industry knowledge.
