Who we're looking for

Toyota's Parts Distribution and Accessory Development division Manufacturing Parts Organization (MPO) is looking for a passionate and highly motivatedPackaging Engineer.

The primary responsibility of this role is to support management of the Toyota packaging fleet for Mexico (MX) based suppliers for the Mazda Toyota Motors manufacturing plant (MTM) in Huntsville, AL. This position works directly with MTM's Production Control group, TMNA Logistics Operations, Indirect Procurement, Direct Purchasing, and all NAMC's.

Reporting to the Packaging Operations and Environmental Manager, the person in this role will support the role of PDAD MPO's objectives of ensuring packaging is available to support production at MTM and kaizen processes to reduce costs for abnormal packaging expenses.

What you'll be doing

  • Manage the Toyota packaging fleet for MX based suppliers for the Mazda Toyota Motors manufacturing plant (MTM) in Huntsville, AL.
  • Work closely with MTM's PC group, TMNA Logistics Operations, Indirect Procurement and PSD on all aspects of packaging management for MTM and supporting other NAMC's.
  • Managing SCR (Supplier Change Request) changes for MTM for MX based suppliers.
  • Manage a COO (Country of Origin) labeling process that supports Customs compliance for shipment of MTM packaging in and out of MX.
  • Conduct TMNA's Packaging Systems (VPACS) Supplier training events 1x/month.
  • Manage the VPACS Helpdesk Inbox to support internal and external VPACS users.
  • Manage the Packaging Operations Inbox to support requests from the field for HQ Packaging Operations support.
  • Kaizen existing processes and tools to reduce costs for abnormal packaging costs.
  • Leading out-of-network packaging projects (as needed).
  • Support organizational kaizen efforts to improve current US/MX border crossings compliance, lead time, and cost.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and/or internationally up to 10%.

What you bring

  • Bachelor of Science Degree (e.g., Packaging, Industrial, Mechanical Engineering or related field) and/or equivalent experience in a related position.
  • Proven experience with supplier and vendor management.
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience analyzing data quickly and efficiently.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word knowledge. Tool applications include:
    • Ability to create, manage, analyze large data sets and analytical tools in Excel.
    • Ability to develop and deliver executive level presentations in PowerPoint.

Added bonus if you have

  • PMP Certification.
  • Toyota Production System understanding and experience.
  • Automotive manufacturing and/or packaging experience.
  • TBP and Innovation Mindset.
  • Experience with TMNA Logistics systems - VPACS, LiOS, ILMS, Parts Visibility System, Interius (RFID).
  • Ability to speak Spanish.
