Job Description

The Manager of the Analytics Center of Excellence (CoE) is responsible and accountable for leading a global, cross-functional analytics team dedicated to Alcon Procurement. The Analytic CoE supports the Procurement team to drive effective category management including effective RFPs and sourcing negotiations. The role is responsible for co-creating and overseeing the strategic vision of the Analytics CoE together with the Head of Procurement. The CoE Manager will be supporting the tracking of savings realized across Procurement initiatives, coordinating, and prioritizing the analytics use cases to be developed and codifying analytics best practice processes and metrics.

Competency Profile

1) Analytic strategy and vision:

  • Defines and communicates the CoE's data strategy, ensuring alignment with broader organizational goals
  • Fosters a culture of data-driven decision-making across Procurement, translating analytics into
    actionable outcomes
  • Identifies opportunities to leverage analytics to drive innovation in procurement processes

2) Driving results:

  • Supports tracking of savings achieved by the Procurement team across Indirect and Direct categories
  • Ensures RFPs and sourcing negotiations are backed by robust data analytics
  • Evaluates project outcomes against set objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs)

3) Team leadership and mentoring:

  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and development, mentoring team members to enhance their skills, encouraging innovation, and ensuring the highest standards of analytical rigor and integrity
  • Mentors and develops the data scientists and analysts, ensuring they have the skills and tools needed
  • Establish and oversee effective performance management processes, set clear objectives aligned with the company's goals, and provide regular feedback and career development opportunities to team members
  • Oversees recruitment, training, and retention strategies for the CoE

4) Coordinate across global business units:

  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration, bringing together different perspectives and expertise to drive data-driven decision making across the organization
  • Prioritizes and oversees analytics projects together with leaders across the various functions
  • Act as a key liaison between the Analytics COE and various business units, ensuring that analytics strategies and solutions are closely aligned with business objectives and challenges

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong analytical background (e.g., PhD in engineering/science or MBA with engineering background)
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English, other major languages are a plus
  • 8+ years of analytics and strategy experience; prior professional experience in procurement a plus
  • Executive leadership experience in cross-functional global projects and processes
  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to motivate and empower teams and foster collaboration
  • Comfort working in a pressured environment with ambiguity and change
  • Effectiveness in engaging and managing multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to drive data-driven decision-making
