Job Description

Join our Commodity Markets and Finance team as an Associate in Energy Derivative Sales with a focus on corporate and financial sponsorship clients in the upstream oil & gas sector in the US and Canada.

In this capacity, you will work in a client-facing, revenue generating role, covering corporate and financial sponsorship clients with exposures to crude, natural gas, liquids and originate the deployment of capital where needed. You will have PNL accountability, to identify, structure and promote our breath of commodity products and services. This includes primarily risk management, but also physical commodities, debt and working capital solutions. You will drive the management, development, and promotion of Macquarie's commodity platform, lead the deal process, and execute deals to generate revenue.

Working across the organization, you'll develop strong interpersonal relationships, integrating with Macquarie Commodities Trading (principal and physical trading team) and Macquarie Capital (capital markets and advisory team) to lead negotiations with clients and internal support staff such as legal, credit and other teams. You will meet regularly and collaborate with internal trading, sales, origination, structuring and investment banking teams to develop client solutions that utilize Macquarie's differentiated commodity platform.

In this role you will be relied on for your subject matter expertise, and need to remain up to date on legal, compliance and economic issues affecting the hydrocarbon and financial services industry.

Location: Houston or New York

You will bring to this role:

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree with a relevant major
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a sales and / or origination role related to oil, natural gas, and liquids.
  • Client relationships in the US and Canadian
  • Minimum travel expectations of 30%
  • Contract negotiations
  • Experience in delivering client solutions by deploying balance sheet.
  • Lead negotiations with clients and internal support staff such as legal, credit and operational risk teams.
  • Financial derivative understanding and expertise
  • Strong detail, analytical capabilities and communication skills
  • Have a global view of the international market and deep local knowledge within each of the targeted jurisdictions.
  • Financial modeling and an ability to structure and model economics of projects.
  • Strong knowledge of financial commodity markets and experience trading and origination in this market

Salary range for this position: $130,000 - $160,000 Yr. Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, peer and market data, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. The successful candidate may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive compensation award.
