With over 30 years of industry experience, MS Directional holds an established presence in most major producing onshore oil and gas basins and is a leader in onshore directional drilling in the United States.

The Quality Technician - QA/QC Inspector will be responsible for inspection of machined parts for MS Directional machine shop, repair & maintenance, quality control, and engineering departments. The role will then issue the inspection report and supporting quality notice and/or reports if applicable. This will include identify non-conformities and Quality Notices. Reporting to the Quality Control Department, the Quality Technician - QA/QC Inspector must be passionate about quality assurance of all duties performed.

Detailed Description:

  • Performs scheduled mechanical inspections in accordance with manufacturers and down hole drilling tools recommended and mandatory instructions.
  • Reads, interprets, writes, and complies with technical data including Service Instructions, Bulletins and other applicable documents as directed by the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) or MSD tool instructions.
  • Complete the necessary paperwork to support inspection report, to include but not limited to quality notices, failure analysis reports, and corrective action reports.
  • Confers with vendors and others regarding inspection results, recommends corrective procedures, and compiles reports of results, recommendations, and needed repairs.
  • Operate devices to comply with test requirements and to perform data acquisition and analysis using testing equipment including but not limited to micrometers, calipers, etc.
  • Cleans and maintains test equipment and instruments to ensure proper functioning.
  • Work any assigned shift or schedule, including support outside normal business hours.
  • Travel to visit vendors for audits.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Excellent interpersonal communication and listening skills
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models
  • Ability to use scientific rules and methods to solve problems.
  • Experience with Geometric Dimensioning Testing and Non-Destructive Testing.
  • Strong Skills within Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • 3+ years' experience working in as a mechanical inspector of machined parts.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education Required: Associate degrees or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of API and TH Hill industry standards.
  • Certified Mechanical Inspector, Continuous Quality Improvement, and Six Sigma Green Belt Certification preferred.
  • Ability to work independently while adhering to expected deadline schedules
  • Oracle experience

Additional Details:

This job requires the ability to work under time-sensitive deadlines and maintain a calm and professional demeanor when adversity is encountered. It also requires the physical ability to work in shop environment including the ability to stand or sit for long periods of time while performing inspection tasks. The job may require some overtime including weekend or holidays. All applicants must be able to commit to a full-time schedule.
