The Market President is an experienced and accomplished leader who is responsible for staffing, sales (loans, deposits, fee income & cross selling), portfolio management and credit administration for designated geographic area(s) and business line. The Market President will play a key role in driving the overall integration of all bank partners including but not limited to Treasury Management, Wealth Management, Mortgage, and Financial Center teams. The Market President will be responsible for executing the marketing and sales strategy in order to achieve the overall goals of the group.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for overseeing Group Managers, Relationship Managers, and Portfolio Managers while providing leadership and management.

Staffing

  • Assemble and maintain a cohesive team whose members are (a) professional; (b) goal oriented, (c) pro-active and (d) customer service focused. Strategically create initiatives to enhance the skill sets of and career development for team members. Conduct periodic assessments of goal achievement throughout the year and provide improvement coaching as needed.

Sales Leadership

  • Strategically direct the activities of the team to expand market share by building new, profitable customer relationships and maintaining existing ones

  • Achieve sales goals by designing and implementing effective short and long term sales plans and marketing strategies

  • Demonstrate an active calling effort in order to maintain a comprehensive pipeline of new business opportunities

  • Manage team by providing insight and recommendations regarding marketing and deal flow

  • Lead community visibility and involvement through active and strategic relationships with centers of influence and organizations

  • Maintain a pipeline of business leaders and prospects

  • Perpetually recruit new talent

Credit Administration

  • Partner with the Chief Credit Officer and credit approval teams to grow portfolios while achieving and maintaining appropriate risk profiles

  • Serve as accomplished leader in negotiating credit terms. Have an advanced understanding of deals and provides leadership in terms of seeking desirable transactions within the bank's risk tolerance, while supporting our growth strategy

  • May attend loan committee as needed

  • Ensure the effective negotiation of the terms and conditions of loan documents, including financial covenants, collateral security and reporting requirements, to minimize credit risk and to ensure that loans are documented in accordance with loan approvals

  • Ensure that appropriate processes are in place within the group to prevent and resolve overdrafts, past due payments, past due reporting requirements and covenant violations

  • Ensure that the portfolio is at all times appropriately managed and monitored with regular reassessments of risk profiles

Risk and Compliance Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of compliance and security related activities that pertain to the group including state and federal laws and regulatory compliance

  • Stay current on audit requirements that impact the functions of the group as well as the overall Bank

  • Ensure that internal and external audits receive "satisfactory" results with no material weaknesses and no repeat findings

  • Ensure that risk is continuously reevaluated; make appropriate recommendations to mitigate or reduce risk potential

Qualifications:

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university

Minimum Experience

  • Minimum of 12 years of Commercial lending experience, Portfolio Management and Commercial credit experiences

  • Minimum of 3 years of managing an experienced group of financial services sales professionals

  • Minimum of 5 years of development and successful execution of sales strategies in a highly regulated environment

Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities

  • Must be a self-starter with the confidence to deal effectively with growth oriented executive management

  • Proven track record in driving business development, cross selling, and mentoring teams

  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, and coordination of people and resources

  • Ability to consolidate, analyze and present information appropriate to the needs of the audience

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as outstanding interpersonal skills

  • Excellent coach and strong motivator

  • Knowledge of federal, state and local laws, regulations and standards

  • Ability to develop, manage and work within the constraints of a budget

  • Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate programs

  • Ability to direct and organize program activities

  • Ability to establish goals and objectives
