Position Summary:

As the Vallen Senior Estimator you will help develop LSS Solutions for industrial customers. The estimator develops most effective system concepts, scopes of work and cost analysis/TIC estimates. You will make technical consultations for internal and external customers. The Senior Estimator will assist other Estimators with more complex projects and proposals. You will perform technical GAP Analysis of sites as a basis for projects for fee and assists with the coordination of proposals based on talent of other estimators and workload.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyze information regarding product inventory levels, to identify opportunities and action plans to generate additional Vallen margin and customer cost savings
  • Capture special pricing agreements
  • Support the National and Regional Account RFQ process to drive sales revenue
  • Maintain vendor agreements, pertaining to the special pricing
  • Prepare technical reports (dashboards), memoranda, portals, and instructional manuals, as required
  • Participate in customer project/repair service activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Communicate with technical staff and or vendors to gather needed information for quoting/proposals and job requirements
  • Review and analyze company/customer prints for needed information to generate accurate proposals
  • Produce and distribute technical wright-ups, quotes, or proposals for all Life Safety System, Underground Fire Water Supply Systems, and any other service and or repair needs
  • Manage and coordinate Life Safety Systems and product quotation strategies
  • Capture, track, and report on quotation analysis, i.e. 'Quote Matrix'
  • Manage customer expectations & disputes
  • Resolve Customer Disputes
  • Ensure effective sales relationship training
  • Identify Cross Selling Opportunities for other Divisions and Opco's
  • Assist Administrative team on all awarded orders
  • Conduct field surveys as needed for "Request for Quotations" RFQ
  • Maintain current NFPA, Local and Industry Codes & Standards
  • Manage customer base ITM deficiencies and repair quotations

Job Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:

  • 5 - 7 years related sales experience and/or training; or
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience and knowledgeable in all areas regarding Water-based, Special Hazards & Fire Alarm & Detection Systems
  • State and or NICET certification in water-based systems
  • Must be familiar with and understand NFPA 13, 15, 20, 25 & 72
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of contract language, rebate and/or pricing practices
  • Demonstrate ability to analyze, research and identify data trends from which decisions can be made
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Demonstrated strong planning, organizational and execution skills
  • Excellent customer service
  • SQL experience preferred

  • Customer site job visits required as needed to gather relevant data for proposals
