Texas Teaching Fellows is an accelerated alternative certification program that prepares goal-oriented professionals to become teachers.

An intensive training with student teaching, an experienced faculty, and a research-based curriculum ensure that our Fellows are ready to help their students achieve. To meet the state’s critical shortages, TTF is focused on recruiting talented individuals for certification in math, science, bilingual education, and special education.

Schools in Austin, Dallas, El Paso, and San Antonio serve diverse students who have the potential to succeed and who deserve the highest quality education. 65% of at risk students, 56% of Limited English Proficient students, and 51% of special education students met expectations on the 5th grade reading test. By 10th grade, 40% of at risk students, 17% of Limited English Proficient students, and 24% of special eduction students met science expectations. In 2008, only 53% of students in Texas met expectation to all TAKS taken.

Teaching Fellows join a cohort of like-minded professionals from all fields who bring their expertise into Texas classrooms to increase student achievement in our state’s public schools. While teaching full-time, Fellows work toward certification in key shortage areas, primarily: mathematics, science, bilingual education, and special education.
